Local government units in Northern Mindanao have called on residents to take health precautions as a lingering haze continues to affect air quality in the region, according to the Philippine News Agency.
The advisory comes as the haze, which has been linked to ongoing fires in Indonesian Borneo, spreads across parts of the southern Philippines. Officials are urging the public to limit outdoor activities and take measures to protect themselves from potential respiratory issues, the agency reported.
The Philippine News Agency notes that the haze is part of a broader pattern affecting multiple regions. The Philippine Information Agency separately reported that air quality in the Davao Region is also being impacted. BusinessWorld has reported that the southwest monsoon is expected to carry the fire-linked haze toward the Visayas and Mindanao, while simultaneously bringing heavy rainfall to Luzon.
